An authored story development studio

Your story is not just a story.
It is the beginning of something lasting.

We help creators, founders and storytellers turn lived experience into meaningful, story-led work: films, books, courses, keynotes. Development that holds the teller as carefully as the tale.

Saving Mum: Our Family Secret · Channel 4, December 2025

Proof, not promise

The film that changed everything.

For years, Maleena Pone told other people’s stories. Then she turned the camera on herself, making a deeply personal documentary about her mother, her identity, and what it means to be the one who holds the family together.

Saving Mum previewed at BAFTA, aired on Channel 4, was seen by millions and won an RTS award. It is the proof of concept for everything the studio now offers.

“Audiences didn’t just consume the film. They felt seen by it.”

The Workshop

Culture teams, creative departments and media organisations. Workshops, talks and screenings that build stronger storytelling cultures, with the rigour of documentary and the care of trauma-informed practice.

Founder story

Why she built this.

“I spent almost two decades helping other people tell their stories. Somewhere along the way, I had stopped being a person with a story of my own — and become the person who held space for everyone else’s.”

Making Saving Mum taught Maleena what no broadcast credit could: telling your own story is not just a creative act. It is an act of identity. Of reclamation. Of becoming.
